Come join us for a week of music camp on the beautiful island of Islesboro! Participate in five days of creation and exploration, develop new skills, build instruments, bring your instrument or try new ones and come ready to sing. Instructors will work with each child at their age and experience level. Together we will prepare a final presentation to be performed at the end of the week. Chaperoned transportation to and from the ferry will be provided for children who attend from the Midcoast Region. Chamber music for teens in the afternoon if there is interest.

Your Instructors:

Piper Runnion-Bareford was a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music on harp, and performs throughout New England. She is a certified Suzuki piano teacher, and teaches a studio of 40 students at the Manchester Community Music School, as well as being their summer programs director. She is harp faculty at St. Paul’s School in Concord, NH and Gordon College, Wenham, MA. Where she coaches chamber music.

Barbara Schwalbe, a graduate of Music Education of Palm Beach Atlantic University of Florida, is a well known conductor and music educator throughout New Hampshire. She is a guest conductor and adjudicator at festivals in New Hampshire and in Florida. Former conductor of the New Hampshire Chamber Orchestra, she is the current conductor of Manchester Community Music School’s Concert Orchestra. She teaches orchestra and music at Henry J. McLaughlin Middle School in Manchester, NH.

The "Sea Sounds Adventure Music Camp" week is made possible in part by a grant from the Christ Church Centennial Fund.

Geared for those who enjoy drawing and working with art materials, the workshop is an introduction to classical animation with cut-paper techniques for the young and the young at heart. The program begins with a group sharing and “brainstorming” to spark imagination and creativity. Daily film screenings include the history of animation and a broad sampling of short films by international animators. A frame-by-frame capable, digital video camera is used to approximate classical film animation technique but with the added speed, immediacy and flexibility of digital video.

A fun 4-day animation workshop creating art, making new friends and learning new things.

Prior animation experience is not required. All art materials will be provided. Please bring some of your best drawings or other artwork to share with others on your first day, healthy snacks and a bag lunch.
